For some of us – every January it’s the same old same old item on the old Resolution list that never seems to get completely crossed off for good.
And if you’re a driven hard working kinda girl who always does what she says she’s going to do – it can really erode at your self confidence if no matter how hard you try – you can lose weight in the short term but it is only a matter of time before it finds you again.
So there are 2 really serious mindset mistakes that most women make that actually derail all your efforts that I want to talk to you about today – and I’m going to give you the really simple solution to no longer being a victim
The first one is called
This is where you finally flick the switch, you’re doing all the right things, and then you step on the scales and you’ve ONLY lost a kilo in a week and so you think DAMMIT this shit is taking way too long – so before long you’re eating french fries, cos losing weight doesn’t work anyway.
The second one is called
So that’s where basically you follow the latest diet to a TEE, you measure out your food, you say No to social events and you are train like a beast in the gym.
This is where you become fixated on being perfect, and if you slip up you think – oh well, i’ve ruined it now – if I can’t be perfect at being good. I’ll be perfect at being bad – and you go on a perfect binge.
So – how do you solve this?
It’s all about harnessing the Power of Perspective.
Okay – so for instance
I just had a baby 2 weeks ago – My body is currently the sloppiest, the saggiest, the fattest and the weakest it has ever been
But I also just had a baby – and Maverick is my greatest achievement to date, ever in this whole entire world.
Both of these statements are true. But one of these truths empowers me, one of these truths imprisons me.
1. Choose the truth that empowers you.
In any given moment there is a positive and a negative you can invest in.
Like, just before I did this video my baby spewed up all over me. Negative.
So then I got to have a shower and wash my hair – Positive.
But then I put my bra on inside out – Negative.
Which means I’ll probably be able to wear it again the right way out tomorrow. Positive.
So right now, you can choose to feel resentful towards your body for not behaving the way you think it should.
OR you can choose to feel grateful for all the things that you CAN do.
Like pooping. Pooping to a new mum is both the holy grail as well as the temple of doom.
You will never appreciate pooping so much as after you’ve had a baby.
But I digress…
What can you appreciate about your body right now – and be grateful for.
Because when you choose to be grateful – you are far more likely to continue the healthy habits you started the new year off with, and less likely to start some intense, ridiculous and extreme gym and food routine.
So just have a think, what can you be grateful right now for your body and what she does for you without even asking. Like your arms for hugging the people that you love close to you, your legs for walking with a friend and your smile for spreading good vibes.
2.Celebrate your wins no matter how small
For instance – My pelvic floor was so weak after giving birth I could only stand for short periods of time before being overcome with a lot of pain.
But yesterday I coughed – and I didn’t wet my pants #MumGoals #Winning
So instead of talking about how you didn’t eat perfectly this week – tell me what you DID do perfectly. Like you drank a green smoothie like a BOSS.
Or you replaced your afternoon double shot cappuccino for a peppermint tea
When you believe you are succeeding you find it easier to continue to succeed.
3. Focus on how far you have come instead of how far you have to go.
One of the most devastating factors that keep people failing is that they focus on how far they have to go. But if they just chose to focus on how far they had already come, then they would find that they were able to attract more of that success that they were focusing on.
For instance, I just threw on a top yesterday forgetting that I no longer fit my maternity clothes. I had to laugh because now my favourite maternity top that is a size 20 is swimming on me. Instead of changing, I just wore it around all day marvelling at how skinny I now am.
Even though I am technically the heaviest, the sloppiest, the saggiest that I’ve ever been – I’ve also lost something mental like 17 kilos in the past 2 weeks.
One of those truths empowers me, one of those truths imprisons me – when I focus on one of them I’m more motivated to continue my healthy habits consistently. When I focus on the other one I just want to eat choc chip cookie dough.
If you can harness the power of perspective, you’ll find your fat burning efforts this year to be far more effective.
I’ve got a helpful guide for you to download below – 7 Easy Mindset & Food Tweaks to Help You Lose Weight Without Restrictive Dieting or Punishing Exercise.
If you enter your details in below, you’ll grab that guide as a free gift from me. And you’ll also be the first to know when my awesome new mentoring program is released in mid February.
Now, I want to warn you, it’s only limited to a certain number of people, and this is about long term sustainable change, so its NOT for you if you’re looking for something that’s just about rapid fat loss, and novelty and something that’s going to consume your life.
It IS all about helping you keep your health in the forefront of your mind, and encouraging you and motivating you to make the small, everyday lifestyle changes, one habit at a time so that the weight you lose, is also the weight that you keep OFF.
So if you want to make sure you’re in the loop – download the guide below, start implementing some of those tweaks, and stay tuned for when I release the details of the program later on next month.
